L - Theme / Style / Design

The beginning concept of new landscape design projects must always take their styles based on the style of a home, personal and family needs, and the personality of the owner when possible. Beginning with a theme in mind and a complete finished plan will help keep the project on track as well as create and maintain unity between the home, landscaping, and garden.
We specialize in custom designs with my goal being to enhance the way people interact with the spaces they spend the most time in. Our inspiration comes from urban cityscapes and our designs imbue beauty, flexibility, and purpose. We always maintain our client’s vision at every step of the process. Soilscape

Soil is critical to the success of sustainable gardens, and it provides important environmental benefits. Using sustainable gardening practices can help us restore the benefits our soils provide. Modern industrial society has left much of the Earth’s soil eroded, exhausted and polluted. Many unsustainable gardening practices, like applying too much fertilizer or compacting soil, have unwittingly contributed to the problem. The good news is that it’s not too late! The health of our soils can be restored, and even enhanced, through the implementation of sustainable gardening techniques. Nature can take more than 500 years to form just one inch of topsoil — even more reason to take care of this valuable resource.
This segment involves soil expertise.

Segments:
Soil identification
Soil health
Soil selection
Soil filling
Soil cutting
Soil contouring

Our architecture studio was founded in 2015 in Bangalore. It was born out of a passion to transform land into livable spaces. In addition to projects for homes and workspaces, We have also designed parks, recreation centers, and community spaces. Every design is informed by the surrounding environment, our clients, and the people that will use the space.

Softscapes

Softscape refers to the live horticultural elements of a landscape. Softscaping can include,
flowers, plants, shrubs, trees, flower beds, and duties like weed/nuisance management, grading, planting, mowing, trimming, aerating, spraying,
and digging for everything from plants and shrubs , to flower beds.
Wheel barrows and manual tools like rakes, shovels, picks, and gas power tools are commonly used. The purpose of softscape is to lend character to the landscaping, create an aura, ambience, and reflect the sensibilities of the inhabitants.
The term softscape stands in contrast to hardscape which represents inanimate objects of a landscape such as : pavers, stones, rocks, planter boxes, arbors , water feature as well as structures of wood and natural stone and concrete, like: retaining walls, patios, fences and decks, pergolas, stairs, Etc

Hardscape

Hardscape refers to hard landscape materials in the built environment structures that are incorporated into a landscape.
This can include
paved areas,
driveways,
retaining walls,
sleeper walls,
stairs,
walkways,

terraces,
avenues,
boulevard,
medians,
monuments,
Sculptures
and any other landscaping made up of hard wearing materials such as wood, stone, concrete etc. as opposed to softscape, the horticultural elements of a landscape.

Hard landscaping involves projects that cover the entirety of the yard and that are necessary before soft landscaping features come into play. Hard landscaping is very much altering the foundation of the yard, the "bricks and mortar", and so only once this is completed can the landscaper begin to focus on the more beautiful features of the yard, hard-soft landscaping such as the floral arrangements, trees and shrubs and perfecting color schemes. One key feature of hard landscaping is to do with

Hardscape Drains/Absorption

the absorption of water – something that is of great importance given the climate. Hard landscaping ensures that worrying about water after heavy rain or snowfall is not an issue. The right water absorption and irrigation system installed through hard landscaping, coupled with hard materials that safely move water away from the property can ensure that soil movement is never a problem and that the yard stays a drier, enjoyable living space, rather than a wet and muddy bog. There are soft landscaping options that can help to achieve this, but the bulk of this is achieved through hard landscaping.

From an urban planning perspective, hardscapes can include very large features, such as paved roads, driveways or fountains, and even small pools. Most water features are hardscapes because they require a barrier to retain the water, instead of letting it drain into the surrounding soil.
